block heaters

Default block heaters

can anyone tell me what amps a block heater draws on a diesel pick up? We just had a gfi receptical melt and take some wires with it. I know that they are 1000 watts.

i think u had other problems as i have used my block heater with a 16 ga cord that is 50 ft long and that would burn up a skill saw and i've never had a problem with circuit overheating check and make sure block heater isn't shorted out

gari08, I have had problems with the external type GFI. The one thats a GFI plug on a short ext cord. I need to plug in 2 trucks into onevery heavy dutycord and thought that that was the answer but it seemed very fragle.Not to flame a country but I think the problem is the new cheap made in china cords and supplies being sold to us by discounters.
