Default A/C Freezing up

I have a 2007 Taurus and for a few weeks now if I run the air on max and the fan on low the fan stops blowing air through the vents. If I turn the fan to high it sounds like there is blockage in the flow path. I guess it is freezing up. If there is anyone that can help me please let me know what to do. I had the condensor replaced in February but it just started freezing up in the last month or so. Thanks in advance for your help. Henry

Check the low pressure cut out switch. If it does not turn off the compressor, the evaperator will freeze up and air flow is blocked.

You may have a bad evaporator temperature monitoring thermostat. The thermostat monitors the temperature of the evaporator fins and controls system operation within set limits. The thermostat usually cycles the system between a minimum of 2°C [or 35.6°F] and a maximum of 8°C [or 46.4°F] to maintain the evaporator at the required temperature. If this thermostat is bad, the evaporator will ice up causing the lack of air flow.

Default Low pressure cut out switch

I cannot find a low pressure cut out switch for this car. Could it be called something else. Also does removing this switch cause the freon to be released or is it a sealed system. The only switches listed for this car arethe a/c clutch cycling switch. If this is it I can probably get it installed myself as long as all the freon won't escape.

That is the same part. You can change the part yourself. It just screws off. There may be a miniscule amount of refrigerant escape, but it is nothing to worry about.
