A/C Problems
I drive a 96 Ford Windstar.
About a week ago, I started my Van up and turned on the A/C. I noticed the A/C was not coming from the Vents, but from the Defrost. After about 2-5mins it switched from Defrost to Floor and finally Vents. When I was driving down the rode, while A/C was flowing through the vents, It went back to defrost, floor, and then Vents again. (Did that once). I tried to turn the **** from vents to defrost or floor, to see if the switch was the problem, and nothing happend, just stayed on vents. So I am guessing it is the switch, or something electrical.
So I want to ask a few things before I do anything. 1. Could it be more then the Switch or Electrical??? 2. Where a good place other then a junkyard to find parts?
Thanks

Thgis is normally a sign of a vaccum leak. The default setting for the AC is Defrost. Check for a vaccum leak in the vaccum lines inder the dash and under the hood going to the vaccum canister.
You'll find your broken vacuum line above the right front shock tower.. You'll have to searh a little and haave small hands, but it is probably broken. Stick your hand in the engine bay , between the wiper cowl and the passengers strut tower.. Good luck
found the Vaccum leak, was in the the Rear AC Switch. Fixed it. I got a new problem now, My Compressor doesn't work. I did some Testing, and found that my Compressor is good, the clutch is good, my HI and LOW is good, and I have freon, the only thing I notice Is I have no power to my compressor. All the Fuses are good an Relays. I even tested the relays. Someone told my that my compressor might have a thermo switch. Any Suggestions?
Since it was working prior to getting into the rear unit, I would double check all connections for the rear A/C unit. If nothing, then you'll have to follow the power thru the system. Might need to get a wiring schematic to trace everything.
I did some more test on my 96 Windstar. I noticed my Clutch is not engaging. I Checked the Freon and they are normal, I checked the relays and fueses also made sure they are getting power and working correctly. Everything is fine. I pulled the the power from the compressor, and hooked some aligator clips the to the compressor, grounded one and touched the other with the batter, and the clutch started to spin, and blowing cold air out of the vents. So the compressor is good the clutch is good, but I must be missing a relay or something. Someone told me it my be the CCRM. Anyone know where the CCRM is located? Or does anyone have any eletrical Digram they can send me? for a 96 Ford Windstar 3.8. Or any input?
Thanks
