Default code reader

I have been looking at code readers for the check engine light but have not decided on a brand or what goodies it needs to have. Does anyone have one that they like and would get another. I have looked at Actron(kind of like the CP9135 model) and others on Ebay and at Schucks/AutoZone.

What are the better ones out there? It will be used for personal use and on 96 and up cars, both american and foreign

Thanks, Kerwin
