heya guys, I'm new to the site and just lookin for some good advice. I just bought a truck from a friend's father and i'd like to check some things out. Like what the engine might be. It's got a 4 barrel holley carb on it of some nature, and some of the numbers read like so...

Intake: c8se-9425-b
f4 7m11

Firing Order: 15426378

and i think there's 23 bolts on the oil pan.

so if anyone can help with this, it'd be great cause i'd like to make some improvements on her. Such as its still running points in the distributor, which i would like to upgrade to a nice electric ignition and so on..

Manifold part numbers shows to be for a 68 Thunderbird.. Could have been a few engine options back then (68),, but the most common or popular would have been a 390 ('FE' block) which is easily identified by the distributor installed through the front of the intake.. The 460/429 series '385' would not, and isn't very similar looking to the FE's.. Another quick check would be, the series 385 had 7 valve cover bolts and the FE engines had 5.. Most all FE engines also had a '352' cast into the block (even the 390/360 ect) on the drivers/front near the water pump mounting..
