Ford Escape....no guts and certrainly no glory
I hope someone can help me. I took my 2002 Ford Escape for a car wash about two weeks ago and then it rained the next day. Up until this, it had been perfect. After this, I had a rough idle, really bad acceleration and a code that said 2 and 5 were misfiring. I got a tune up and also a bit of water was dried out in the pcm. All better......then it rained again. Now the idle is fine, but revs are at 5000 to get it up to 40kph. It also passed an emission test two days ago and did 120 on the hiway in dry weather no prob. Now, Ford Dealership tells me all 3 Cat Converters clogged. I think O2 sensor or a wire......they refuse to test....said it is Cats...Help please

If you live in an area where you can do it, remove the front O2 sensor and see if it helps any. If the converters are plugged, removing the O2 sensor will give the exhaust a place to go and the power will return. When was the last time the fuel and air filters were changed? Low fuel prerssures or low air flow can cause all kinds of problems. Try removing the O2 first. It will be loud as the exhaust is just running straight out of the hole the sensor bolts in to.
