fuel pump cutoff switch question

i got this switch to install in my corvair fuel pump circuit. the numbers on the switch are one side it has pbt-gf15 and the other side is 990830c xf32-9341-aa it came from a mustang but not sure the year. it has a red button on the top i presume. when i shale it i feel a reverberation and if i shock it the red button pops up. but my question is this it takes quite a bit of shock to make the button pop up. it seems to me this should trip faster than that, even to the point of if i turn it upside down it should pop up. with the amount i have to bang it i think it will not trip when needed if at all. so is this really normal for that shock load on this switch? thanks

In Ford lingo it's called an inertia switch.
When installed properly you would be amazed at how well it works.
Many cars that got tapped in a parking lot sometimes wouldn't start because the switch was tripped. It is meant to trip when forward motion stops abruptly. (Inertia)
