Beginner's question. I just replaced the fuel filter on an 03 Taurus with 94K miles on it. WhenI shook the fuel out of the old filter from the back side, it came out looking like muddy water (from the front side itwas clear and clean). Is this normal?

 

looks like the filter was doing its job otherwise that part that looked like muddy water would ended up in the engine
