How was it replaced? Was the oil pan dropped down? Could have knocked off the the oil pick-up tube for the oil pump.

Default updated inquiry

The mechanic who changed the oil pan gasket on my 5.0 Liter V8 1995 Ford F-150 4x4 EFI truck engine said that he did not remove the pan but dropped it enough to replace the gasket by flipping it under the oil pump. Is it possible by doing this that the oil pump filler tube came dislodged or otherwise disconnected from oil pump.???? What would be the process for determining that this happened?? Should I take the engine/truck to a Ford dealership and ask for a diagnosis to prove what occurred??? The mechanic who fixed the engine does not have a license or insurance/bond, but said he guarantees his work and would fix whatever needs fixed if it was his fault.

You're best bet is to drop the pan down far enough to see if the pick-up tube is still connected. With your mechanic is even better. Also, the pick-up tube may still be connected. I'm just wondering where all of the old pan gasket has gone? Possibly plugged up the screen on the oil pick-up? To verify this, the pan will need to be totally dropped out of the way.
