Default High Mount Upgrade Bulb to LED Help

Hello guys,

Me again, I recently upgraded my high mount rear stop light from bulb to LED. I was wondering if I will be needing some type of resistor since I'm going from bulb to LED. I tried to test the light when it arrived to check for functionality with a 9v battery but it did not work.

Can anyone please chime in on this?

Usually if designed for automotive use , they just plug in resistor is already within.
You must observe the correct polarity. Can you post a pix ?

Actually I initially thought that the black wire was the ground. However, I with much hesitation tried the opposite and it ended up working. I had matched up black to black and that didn't work but the opposite did.
