Default Ideas for building a 302

Hi... newbie to the forum here. I've got a big old Lincoln Towncar... I know...not so exciting... but I really love the car. The old boy has over 240k miles, and although running okay, it just doesn't have the kick it used to. So.... I'm thinking of resoring the whole thing and would like to rebuild the 302. I've only done two engines the past, and they were both stock. I would like the Lincoln to have a little more kick than stock, but I'm no hot rodder. It would just be nice if the acceleration took you by surprise.... or I surprised a celica or two off the line with a 4,000 pound Grandpamobile. So, I want that power, BUT... I don't want it to sound like anything other than a Lincoln. Quiet, refined power.

So....what do ya'll think I should do with this 302? I'd like to keep it, as opposed to swapping for a big block. Should I look for a Mustang HO? Any ideas appreciated.....

-Mike
