I changed the battery (put them in correctly as I triple checked) and followed instructions to program (key 8 times, car locks/unlocks, press remote button, etc) but remote still doesn't work. Is it time for a new fob?

 

Maybe it is. Call these guys keyless-remotes . I got prices about half the market value on fobs.
