MAF Sensor Test

MAF Sensor Test
Hey just wondering if anyone could throw some quick information at me so I could test my MAF.
First it's on a 1996 Ford Probe SE, about 80K miles.
Anywho, I was wondering how I would go about testing the MAF with a Multimeter like I have heard you can, or anyone know where I could find the information online?
I checked around but I can't find much. Any ideas of what kind of numbers I should get when I do it also would be helpful. Thanks!

RE: MAF Sensor Test
It would be helpful to know what the vehicle is doing. I found on my 94 explorer that black smoke came from the exhaust. I unplugged the MAF and it still smoked. I the took it out and cleaned the silver wire, (which had black dust and crud on it) with just a clean paper towel and plugged it back in. It stopped smoking and had much more power. As for testing one...I found it either works or it dont, like many electrical components on vehicles.
