Mondeo runs badly on cold start
I have a 1995 Mondeo 1.8 zetec. When starting from cold engineappears to misfire but ticks over at normal speed. when the accelerator is pushed to the floor tickover reduces to 500 Rpm. After a couple of minute sengine will accelerate hesitantly. After travelling about 1to 2 miles engine starts to run normally. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Thank you.
Thank you.

RE: Mondeo runs badly on cold start
Not sure what a " MONDEO " would be here in the U.S.,,, an not real sure -- about a TICK . DOWN here a TICK , is what gets on your DOG , NASTY LIL CRITTER .but it sounds like you got a vaccum leak .In your intake manifold an as the engine warms up the parts expand an seal's it self up ..

RE: Mondeo runs badly on cold start
sounds like a fuelling problem. my mates probe did the same thing. they got similar engines, just put together by mazda. possibly an air leak on the induction side. might be worth checking the idle switch is firm and in the right position. alternatively the ignition circuitry (not plugs and leads) could be breaking down, not likely but worth considering. PS if ya know of any UK chatrooms for ford nutcases could you reply to this?
