I have a 2002 Taurus 3 liter OHV. My water pump went bad so I'm trying to install a new aftermark one but when I bolt it up and torque the fasteners the impeller shaft is jamming against the timing cover where you can barely turn it by hand. I bought a second one, same problem but worse. The impeller on the new pump is a different design than the original pump I took off. The original pump is a pancake style impeller where the new one the blades are exposed. None of the parts places I'm calling seems to know anything. I did find a pump similar with the same pancake design and have it ordered so I'm hoping it will work. Anyone else run into this before?
