Just put new spark plugs in my wife's '99 contour (2.0/120,000 miles) yesterday and all was fine. Went to start it this morn and it will not idle
at all when dead cold, but when it warms up a little it idles fine. Also, drove it to work and noticed now that the engine doesn't want to rev down
very quickly. I did do one thing that I should mention; I sprayed some brake cleaner down the throttle body just to clean it up a little, though it
wasn't that dirty. Could I have messed something up doing that? Never had a problem doing that on other cars. I've done a search but couldn't
find what I was looking for. Check engine lite is not on. Would appreciate any help you guys can give me. Dave

 

It may be the IAC (idle air control) valve screwing up on you. Try removing it and cleaning it up.
