Default power sterring leak

I have a leak on my power steering. I have a 2002 Aerostar. There is a large hex plug on the bottom with a plate that has six edges folded up and it drips around it. It seems tight. Is there a o-ring there or a gasket. The dealership says I need to replace the unit. It works fine, no noise. It justs leaks. I don't want to remove the plug until I know whats there. can you advise.

Then you may want to take it out or at least half way out and wrap it with teflon tape.
