rear inner tire wear on explorer
I bough a 05 explorer a few months ago had new tires put on it.noticed tyres were worn on rear to the inside.Had new tires installed an the other day i noticed the rear tires were both worn really bad to the inside .car hasen't been driven but a few thousand miles anyone have any ideas on what my problem could be.front tires look fine tks in advance for any help
How are the tires worn? Is the wear even or choppy? If choppy, then I would suspect the work of worn shocks (don't have to leak externally to be bad). If even wear on the inner bead, then I would suspect camber due to tired springs.
sounds like toe wear. post some pics.
toe wear will appear feather-edged/saw toothed from the edge of the tire scrubbing and rolling. after this pattern is established the tires will growl like a bad wheel bearing.
usually this occurs on independent suspension...the springs sag, lowers the ride height and the toe goes negative. toe is the largest tire wear alignment angle.
on bias ply tires it will wear across the entire face of the tire but radials will flex and it only occurs on the leading edge.
