Default replacement for chip key

This may seem like a stupid question, but here goes. I just bought a Ford Freestar '05. It is the first vehicle I have owned with a computer chip key. My question is since the computer sends an output to the starter, can I with a hardware store copy of the key by-pass the computer, and "jump" the starter to make the engine run? The key does light up all of the dash lights, and seems to have everything working except the starter. Yes I am a cheapskate, and don't like going to the stealership for ANYTHING. I'm a little concerned about trying that, as it could cause a feedback problem ruining the 'puter. Any thoughts?

You need the chip key. You can buy one online and have a locksmith cut the key. It is easily programmed yourself.
