Key Cylinder Replacement W/no key(???)
Hi.
I have a ford 90 aerostar van and purchased a replacement ignition with new key but do not have OLD key to put in old ignition to turn it in order to remove the pin. Is there any way around this w/o having to shell out big $$ for a locksmith. I have a mechanic who can install the new ignition if there is someway to remove old one w/o the benefit of the original key (which is lost).
thanks!!!!!

RE: Key Cylinder Replacement W/no key(???)
This could be a fun trick, but has been done. I have a 95 f-150. My key would start my 94 limited explorer, but not the other way around. My neighbors 93 explorer would open my f150's door, if put in all the way and pulled out 1/16 of an inch before turning it, but wouldnt start the f150. Trying others, (friends family) keys may bring you a little luck in a key that may turn the ignition switch enough to remove it. good luck.

You should be able to get a key code off the car somewhere. they used to have a sticker in the glove compartment. Call a Ford parts or service department, and ask if there is a way to id what key cut you have. You have a 90 which isnt listed in their vin search but they should be able toadvice you further. A good locksmith will charge about 10-20 making a key just from the code. No reseason they have to come out to your van.
