Default Timing

What happens when u put the pistons backwards. My father along time ago did this to increase HP by 10 degrees. Problem is I was just a kid an didnt
see what else was done. I tried this and the timing marks when lined up
no. 1 piston is two inches from top of block. When No. 1 piston is at the
top the timing marks are off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
