trouble with tranny on taurus need help
ok i just got a 92 ford taurus for cheap so i had to do it cause it would be an investment but i do not like fords and this is the reason they suck! the way the design the motors and trannys are inadequete but anyways it only has 56,000 miles on it was very very well taken care of before me and all of a sudden i had the car for a week and now the tranny is jumpin and stomping on 1st and when i take off it i dont know how to describe it it just hits hard and not good feels as if the tranny is bad now but was just fine yesterday and i didnt nothin to harm it when driving it, what should i do im gonna call a shop and see and maybe just go ahead and sell it or take the tranny out of my dads taurus that also is a pos it blew a head gasket and use that tranny but all this work for a pos car what to do?
If it were me I'd check the Converter Lock-up Solenoid first. Make sure it's plugged in, wires aren't broken that sort of thing. If all appears copacetic, unplug it and go for a drive, if it isn't being stupid any more the solenoid, or lock-up circut is the problem.
Seems to me all of the trouble I've seen or heard of with the late'80's and early 90's taurus' was pretty consistent. Guy would be cruisin on down the highway, just as right as the mail, he'd stop for whatever reason, and when he got ready to leave he'd put the car in gear and.........surprise your tranny is toast.
They had a problem with the Final Planetary and keeping sufficient oil flow. Nasty stuff
Hope this helps
