Default v-6 MISFIRING

I have a 97 v-6 that the catyletic converter on the left side stopped up on. Had to floor it to get back to the house (1/2 mile). Removed catylectic converters. Now engine is misfiring. Puffs of black smoke sometimes. Engine does better at higher rpms. New plugs and wires. Could the stopped up exhaust have damaged the fuel injectors? Any suggestions would be helpful.
