351w performance upgrades
Hello All,
New here and I've been doing a ton of searching, but...so much info...
Here's the scoop. I have 1965 T-bird, PO put a(1976) 351w with C6 trans in it and did a decent job doing it, bone stock as far as I can tell. Rather than undo all of that I figured I'd just keep it that way and bump the performance instead of going back to a 390 or even a 428. I finally got the body and paint done, working on interior, and engine will soon follow.
I'm looking to change out carb, cam, intake, and headers...no head changes at this point(possibly a little porting work or spring changes if need be).
There are soooooooo many options it seems. I'm not looking to destroy tires or take it to the strip. I just want to have enough power to have some fun around town, but still be able to cruise comfortably.
I was looking at the Edelbrock performer plus and their 600cfm 4b, no idea what cam, no idea what headers
Also I see a lot of talk about the Performer RPM with the same 600cfm 4b??, no idea what cam, no idea what headers.
I have rebuilt a few engines in my day, but always just did everything stock. From what I've read it sounds like the performer plus is great for low end torque but nothing high rpm, while the RPM is a little light on the low end torque but shines at the higher rpm. Of course matching cams for each intake(which I am also unclear as to what to do there).
Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.
