Default 1987 Ford Ranger

On the way home my 1987 Ford Ranger started to run really bad and started boiling black from the exhaust, seems to be flooding. (v-6, 2.9L, 4-wheel drive). Any suggestions?

One thing you can check real quick is the fuel pressure regulator, It is mounted on the fuel injector rail, sorta towards rear of motor. Its a small canister looking thing ,most were chrome if I remember rite . Has a vacumm hose going rite to the top of it , , Has 3 allen screws on the bottom that mounts on the fuel rail ,, With the engine running , if you pull off the vac. hose an it shoots gas outa the top of the reg. ,, Thats your problem,, I had one a couple yrs ago . The guy pulled in the shop an the truck , was just a chugging black smoke , he said he live about 2 miles from the shop an it used like a 1/4 tank fuel to get there .,, dont do this on a hot engine , you dont want fuel spraying everywhere !!!!!!!
