1998 E-250 5.4L passenger
A couple of days ago I noticed that my van was hesitating in Drive. It is not pulling any codes. It will move in Reverse. I can put it in 1st, and 2nd then to drive. Starting in Drive will work but it is real slow to get started and I don't want to chance the transmission burning up. I read a thread that said to check the valve body or silinoid. Any input would be much appreciated.
Hi and welcome to the site.
Before getting into some complicated stuff, were you able to check the trans fluid level?
When was the trans fluid and filter changed ? How many miles are on the van? These are important considerations before going after some more expensive moves that may or may not be the cause of the problem. Do you feel the trans actually slipping?

Trams fluid level is perfect and bright red and sweet. I changed the fluid and filter about a yr. and a half ago when I bought it. There are around 240,000 miles on it. It just doesn't move a whole lot in drive. I have to start in 1st, 2nd then to drive. I know I can't do this much longer.
No nothing blinking. The only light that comes on when it wants is my abs light. I recently did my rotars and was told if you don't buy from ford a lot of times the teeth don't match up or it could be loose wire. Regarding tranny nothing though
If the trans fluid isn't smelling from any burnt smell you aren't burning up anything.
I need to check the powerflow for that trans in drive in order to suggest a possible cause. There are other gents on this site with lots more experience with your particular trans and possibly one of them will join in and help answer your concerns.
