Default 2.3 liter turbo

Hi all. I am new to this forum and may ask for help when trying to get ready to install a 1985 2.3 liter turbo inline four into a 29 Ford.

I built this truck in 2017 and 2018 I started with Wrecked Mazda Miata I used to own. After adapting the front and rear sub frames to the model A frame, I installed the 1.6 liter na engine and 5 speed. It started right up and I have been driving it for a year now. However, the 117 hp and 100 ft/lbs of torque just leave the little truck underpowered. Above 45 mph the aero catches up with the little 16 valve Doha engine. And as most of you know, the 29 Ford was not designed with aero in mind. I once read that a big rig truck needs twice the hp to run 70 mph than to run at 55 mph.

So, with this in mind I bought a 2.3 liter soho turbo from an 85 Tbird. I don’t know much about this engine except I have been told it is strong and reliable. This engine came from a Tbird that was rolled/totaled its 65k miles on it. Along with the engine I got a T5 transmission, an adapter, a flywheel, a custom exhaust manifold and a four port intake.

I have never dealt with a turbo before but am anxious to double my torque and gain 100 hp. Ant starting points you can give will be considered.

Thanks, JCS
