Default 2018 Explorer 2.3 L cylinder 3 leaking/engine replace

2018 Explorer Limited 53k miles on a 2.3 L EcoBoost Engine . Dealer diagnostic test code PO0303 misfiring on cyl 3 when cold. Coolant level low. Pressure tested cooling system. Found coolant intrusion in cyl 3 recommend replace long block assembly.
We purchased used with 19k miles Dec 2021. Vehicle was certified pre-owned Ford Advantage Gold Certified. Which indicates 7 yr powertrain limited warranty; covers Cylinder block and heads amongst other Engine components.

Per our dealer service department, Ford is requiring us to pay for 10 hours ($2000) of engine bread down to obtain warpage measurements to verify IF it is a warrantable claim. If Ford determines it is covered then we would not pay the $2000. If it is not covered, I would have
to replace the engine at a cost of $12k plus the $2k.

Vehicle has been serviced regularly, the majority of the 33k miles I have put on it have been highway miles. I have read other Ford models with this engine have a class action lawsuit due to the design of the engine/cooling from about 2017-2021. I am beyond frustrated with the possibility of having to pay to put a new engine into this vehicle. Especially since I am retired. How common is this problem?
Would appreciate any feedback, suggestions!
