Exclamation Backorder parts

Hey people, I run a parts department at a collision center and was wondering if anyone else was in a similar position. For the last year, some of the most common Ford parts have been on backorder. I've been searching for some better techniques as to locating new OE parts, either from dealerships or elsewhere. I know of some of the websites such as partsvoice.com which are very beneficial for finding dealers around the country. Any other useful websites or resources that you guys might know of would be greatly appreciated.

A quick rundown on some of the parts I've having issues locating:

Bumper brackets, fog lamp bezels, textured fascia's, interior trim parts, big heavy metal parts, and basically anything else that comes out of Michigan is taking WEEKS to get. Not sure if it's an issue in Michigan, or if it's a supplier issue.

Few examples:
5 Months on an interior door panel, 18 F150
4 Months on a chrome grille surround, 18 F250
3 Months on a 19 F250 front deflector, fog lamp and fog lamp bezel.
2 weeks for some metal bumper brackets.
4-5 weeks for a radiator support 17 Fusion

Most common culprit is the 17+ F series trucks.

I understand that all manufacturers are having similar issues due to the unfortunate events in 2020. Just seems like Ford is having the most trouble of all.

And the worst of it all, is when I source a part that's backordered, whether it be an Aftermarket replacement or a Recycled part, use it for the job, and then a month after the car leaves and my OEM Radiator support shows up.

And then there's the new commercials you see with 5 different brand new Lincoln models, new F series models, Mach E, etc.... BUT YOU CAN GET A RAD SUP FOR A 14 FUSION??

Freeing up production for newer models maybe? Not enough materials for supply? Manufacturer restricting the number of workers in a facility, driving down production?

I appreciate any insight on this matter. I'm looking forward to seeing how others are dealing with this situation.

Sincerely,

Peach Cobblr
