Crystal / Sonic escape name?
Hey folks I'm new to the site, however it looks like great fun.
I just recently bought a 2006 ford escape.
See the thing is I bought it used from a dealer for super cheap...
Well UNDER blue book
So i guessed there would be some issues.
But the problem is on my first day of ownership the fan broke, and the radiator. The dealer also told me there is some road noise from the "beefy tires", they are slightly "beefy" but kind of old. Upon driving it more I noticed the noise sounded slightly metallic, the rear bearings are bad.
I should get the tires aligned, but I'm starting to get slightly frustrated.
The fan and radiator got fixed, but the dealer is going to make me pay the parts for the "bearings", the whole hub for both wheels, but not the labor.
I've had the the truck less than a week.
Should I still keep it?
I love the truck, but do you folks get lists like this as far as repairs?
Or is this the case of a bad previous owner?
Right now I'm thinking as long as my total comes to UNDER blue book I should keep it, I know buying ANY used car is a roll of the dice even when you have a mechanic look @ it.
(I did have a skilled, certified mechanic look @ it, he told me it's worth it)
Thank you guys for your time and input
Either way I still love it.

I'm probably just the first one reading your post.
Welcome to the site !
By now it's "Water under the bridge", so to speak. You didn't indicate the mileage and that is pretty important before offering any opinions.
It's tough to let go of something that you like so much and that decision will depend on how much more you have to shell out to keep you and the vehicle happy.
It might not be a bad idea to have another "mechanic" look the vehicle over, one that will not benefit from making the necessary repairs.

Hello,
I bought this Escape from a little dealership and took it to a different Large Ford dealership here in my city, I did however make it clear to this large dealership that I would not be getting the maintenance from them.
Quite frankly I cannot afford the dealership repair costs, I'm sure you all have seen them by now at some point. The large dealership said even with the things wrong with the truck it would still be well worth it.
There were no additive's in it's system that he could find, the belts all looked good, and there are no fluids leaking or other noises out of the normal he could hear, the dummy lights are all in working order. There is one light on for the ABS, but he ran the diagnostic and it needs the rear bearings and front rings that deal with the front ABS(not sure of what that is honestly).
It does have high mileage 172,000 on the 3.0 2WD. Thce mechanic said with care I could easily pull more than a few "lifetimes" out of this truck.
There is one spot of rust STARTING on the rear hatch. That's about to be stopped (I do autobody work). But it runs smoothly other than the bearings, It accelerates and stop's, and shifts on time everything works.
(mechanics words not mine)
Not to mention that the truck looks incredible!
and from a place that a woman would come from (as I am one. lol.)
I love driving it (whirring noise and all).
but all this is making me kinda biased,
That is why I'm asking.
