Escort gt 1989
I'm coming up to 68 years old but not quite passed my sell by date. Still working full time as a millwright for Boeing and Lockheed Martin on tooling.
Before moving to Canada from England, I owned and operated an automatic transmission business for cars, trucks and industrial machines. prior to that I worked at the Ford Transit plant in Southampton.
I have 2 escorts, 1 Mustang 3.8, 1 Windstar sport and 4 Escape's. 1 Hyundai 2.4. The Escape's are to replace the other cars to ease maintenance for me on my family cars. All other cars except the 1989 GT Escort will be sold.
When our son moved to the city, he left the car on our land for 10 years. I decided to rebuild the car as a project. I have completely dismantled and built a rotisserie for the chassis. My problem is buying standard main and rod bearing for the Escort gt, ebay said I cannot fit 1992 bearings 1.9 into a 1989 GT 1.9 engine but Clevite list the same number for both. Ford said the same thing. I questioned why they are not compatible. He insisted they are not. As this seller's price is half the price then Clevite or Fords. I have never had problems in the past with bearings from ebay. Would appreciate any help. Thanks Phil Spanner.
