Hello Im new
As I said
Im new here
I drive a 1999 Ford F350 dually rwd .
7.3
I love my truck
IVE HaD THIS this problem with it for a long time.
When I start truck it dosnt always start. I get click
sound. I wasnt sure if it was ignition tumblers or cylinder.
I put a new one in , so I think Ive eliminated that. Or if it was the nuertral safety switch?
today I tight the two bolts on shifter lever. Might have helped a bit . Not sure yet
seems like I can lift lever up more securely and engine turns over.
anybody else had this problem?
I changed startef relay glow plug relay and a third one I canr remember right now been awhile.
any feed back appreciated Thanks

Welcome to the site..
Generally a MLPS/Neutral Switch would still work if a start attempt was done in ‘say’ Neutral and/or Park. Shifter issues generally won’t cause just a click, more so if it continuously clicks during key cycles, but if the shifter can be moved slightly and produce engine cranking that may point to linkage/selector issues.
If the starter relay just clicks chances are the circuit through the MLPS is good and the ignition switch is doing it’s job. You can use a 12v test light or meter and confirm switched power distribution to the relay from both the ignition and through MLPS, and check at the starter solenoid as well. If the starter solenoid is/is not getting switched power distribution, batt + cable there is tight, clean, and a good ground, try using a remote starter and go direct jump off the starter solenoid to crank the engine. Could be the starters solenoid is questionable or cause.
If the starter relay is what your hearing as the click,, (Or is it both the relay and solenoid) and if so, I’d prove out the solenoid and starter before anything backwards towards the ignition etc..
