I love fords the older the better
Hello y'all,
A couple yrs back I bought my 92 F150 with a 5.8 in it.
It didn't run but that wasn't a problem for me at the time 'cause I had a 94 as well. after I got the 92 running I sold the 94 and been driving the 92 ever since untill almost three wks ago. It started with no problem and I came into the house and let it warm up for about ten mins. when I put it in reverse it caughed then died istantly. It ain't started since. I thought it jumped time so I put a new chain in it. still no start. my son in-law bought a eic mod. and that helped but still no start. I can't afford to spend alotta money on this thing so guessing at the real problem ain't an option. it gets plenty fuel and lots of fire. any help out there?
thanks a bunch
Floyd

Try to get the timing mark on the crank pulley lined up with the pointer and see where the rotor in the dist is pointing. If the pin in the dist gear has sheared you could have spark and fuel , but it will not run.
If you don't see the rotor at #1 plug wire the first time manually turn the engine with the belt and alt pulley in the engine's same direction of rotation and line up the TDC mark at the pointer again . If it still is not pointing at the # 1 wire on the dist cap, it sheared the pin.
Sometimes you can turn the rotor itself if the fit is loose enough.
