Default Mondeo MkI handbrake

Hello,
The handbrake does not work. The side of the mechanism seems to be loose and not holding the cable in the correct position I will try to explain what is happening.

The rivet like fixing circled in light blue (pic 2) is loose and as a result there is a gap that the cable enters shown in orange (pic 1).

If anybody reading this has any suggestions for example how the repair the fixing to close the gap or maybe suggest an alternative handbrake from another model.

As shown the centres in the handbrake fixing bolts are 115mm apart (it looks like a different size on the picture for some reason when I resized the image.)

Thanks for helping to keep an old car on the road which has had loads of new parts replaced.

update: A new replacement part has now been sourced so the old part will be discarded.
