Need Assistance 2000 Ford Focus Kona ZX3
Hi everyone, I am John, a recently retired US Customs Officer from Chino, CA. Now that I am retired, I now have time to fix, repair or replace many of the chores I have set aside for years. I have a 2000 Ford Focus Kona ZX3. It is my wife's car and she just loves it. We recently had some outside electrical work done under the dashboard. When the vehicle was returned to us, the Hood Release Handle inside the vehicle was hanging down (no longer flush with the dashboard). I am unable to determine how this hood release Handle was attached under the dashboard, so that it was flush with the bottom of the dashboard. The electrical man who did the work could not remember how the Hood Release Handle was attached. My question is: Is there a support bolt or bracket that holds the Hood Release Handle to the dashboard, if so, what is the name of this part and where might I obtain it. Thanks Dangling in California.
The Hood release cable attaches to the lower steering column cover.
Should be a recessed area with a 'key hole' type slot like the one pictured. The cable is pulled back and against the cover for the cable nut to provide the hold..
Black'n white image is looking would be looking down towards the foot area as an illustration. The connector to the left is the Data Link Connector (DLC) as a reference.
