My 79 is shaking badly when I brake, it rides smooth at every speed but when I start to brake it skakes. I looked at all the breaks and all seems fine. I just cant figure it out.

Thumbs up

Welcome to the site..

Sounds like the rotors are out of 'true', or called 'lateral runout' (side to side wobble) usually caused from excessive heat or rotors that may be below the service limit/thickness or a combination of.. Sometimes they just wear uneven or aren't remachined on a pad replacement which can cause or make the runout worse.. When the brakes are applied, the shake or runout is transfered out to the steeing.. Also called a brake shimmy..
