New here, Need 460 oil pressure info???

Hi all: I am new here and have a question about 460 Oil pressure. I built a 59 ford Ranchwagon with a 460 .020 over Twin turbo motor with 16 lbs of boost. It is fuel injected and intercooled. I have a problem with my oil pressure going from 60psi at start "Cold" to almost nothing after 15 min of. running and the oil gets hot. I am wondering if the motor needs a Oil cooler to keep the oil cool or not???? It is a front sump motor without a baffle in the pan. I have drag raced it a few times and it runs 12.3 sec. for the 1/4 at 118 mph With super slow 60 foot times of 2.50 sec. It does weigh 4900 LBS. Anyone have any oil pressure problems with there front sump race cars??? I have about 2000 miles on it and the crank and rod bearings are all wasted. on the dyno it puts 557hp to the ground and 790 FT. Lbs of torque.

Thanks for any replys.

Tom.

Here are a few pics of the car and motor. All built at home in my garage.

Welcome to the site Tom.. Looks pretty sharp!

Takes me back a few years,, when I was given a 57 flat tracker.. I was just newly 15 and a friend and I (same age) were taking turns driving it down a local road.. On his turn behind the controls,, here comes his Mom in the opposite direction so he ‘ducks down’ and she sees the car go rolling by her with only me in the passenger seat.. Guess it didn't take to much deduction to figure out who was piloting the brush textured latex house paint finish, mud covered battle wagon.. Wasn’t much of a swamp buggy/mud bogger but sure took some abuse :) and was a great trainer..

‘Almost nothing’ is what you get ‘off idle’ after heated? Or is that cruise pressures of next to nothing?.. High volume/high pressure pump?

Well when motor is hot it has just under 20 psi at 3000 rpm. and at idle it has almost nothing. So needless to say it is killing my turbos with no oil pressure. There $500 each to be rebuilt..... As for pump it is a Melling high volume pump with no extra shims in it. Stock Pressure on those pumps are supposed to be 65 psi at the valve. ???????

What cam, rockers are you running? Could be that the pan without a baffle is helping aerating the oil ? During the build were the original front galley plugs replaced or checked? If the passenger galley pressures drop, or excessive volume loss out the P/rods the bottom end can starve.. Think the 460 was more prone to 'volume' issues over pressure.
