hi to everyone, needed a small truck-went on the c list and found a reasonable 98 ranger. It will crank but won't crank up. fellow said he had a rt frt wheel bearing replaced and 2 new coil packs. Got from inlaw. bought it anyway. towed to shop got running said it had a tank full of water. can get home at 65 mph and 3 gear .boggs in 4 and 5 th. for the rest of this saga tune in tonight
for the 2 installment and the rest of this adventure. USAF Ret. USN civ ser. ret. totally retired.

well the rest of this story is very trying , got it to my 2nd mech he said the timing belt was off 2 teeth so while we are there we will put in a new water pump. so now we find the bypass hose and thermo housing cracked due to some body stuck a manual temp gauge in it and when he took the water pump off the front seal and cover won't
come off due to rusted bolt -had to break cover to get bolt out. changed the air temp sensor ,throttle sensor o2 upper and lower sensors as per code. still missing on nbr 1 cyl. .got back after a month ,got new wires,no fix. i've run out of things to replace so I'll try a set of slightly used injectors after a fun sat morn it runs like a sewing machine.fixed? not so grasshopper yet. mech removed the c converter to see if that was a prob ,no--- but now have exhaust leak ,wrapped with 2 muffler bandages, still have noise reached on top of conv,to feel exhaust leak. took to muffler shop and had new test pipe installed took shield off conv ,had a crack all the way across conv no more leak. runs great has a good bit of power. but sounds like Biplane from WW1 contact----- contact vroom
