Hi, I'm RLSH700. Some of you might recognize my name from one of our other sites. Anyhow, I just wanted to drop in for some advice currently on helping my father picks his next car (who's two previous cars were Tauruses) and later on for a replacement for another car which I will discuss later on when I get the funds together.

Thank you for the welcome, Hayapower. It appears you have quite a few interesting vehicles listed in your signature. How long have you had them and how many miles do you have on them?

My personal car is a 2002 Dodge Intrepid ES with 75K miles on it that I got this past summer.

Well,,

The 03 Superduty was sold off and replaced with the 05.. The 05 has right around 73K and has been a great truck..

The 1969 Trans Am I bought during the 'first' gas shortage back in 1974? Mileage is just above 110K.. 1 of 697 T/A's built.. 1 of 520 4spd RAM AIR III optioned cars..

The 1959 Cushman Super Eagle I used to ride to High School!! (long ago) more of a nostalgia bike even in the early 70's, but bought Honda 750 as a daily driver..

The 1979 CBX I bought about 10 years ago (always wanted one when they were new) locally and the wide 6 cylinder engine was always a oddity..

The 2003 Hayabusa still makes me smile

Also in the corral,, is my Mom's 72 Dodge Dart 318/auto (all original) and my Grandparents 61 Rambler Classic.. Live long enough you become a collector

Any plans for the Intrepid?

Well Hayapower, your Trans Am sounds quite impressive indeed. I'm glad to hear that your Super Duty has been a good truck, a lot of my fathers clients really like those trucks. I admit I'm not all that knowledgable about motorcycles, but I'm glad you enjoy those.

I'll go ahead and list the cars I've had so far:

From 01-02 1996 Olds Ciera 113K miles on it when it was traded in. It was a hand me down. In one year of ownership it gave me more problems than the car that replaced it and the current one combined over a span of seven years.

From 02-08 1997 Dodge Intrepid 162,800 when I sold it to a family member. It was my first car I picked out. It had 87K when I got it. I did nothing to it out of lack of funds besides a K&N drop in filter.

From 08-current 2002 Dodge Intrepid got it with 70K now has 75K. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. The issue is I'm going to move to a community where they require a yearly emission inspection, so exhaust might be out. I've heard shady things about water getting sucked into those cold air intakes so I'm a little skeptical. On top of this, I'm not sure how long I'm going to have this one. Depending on where I live and what I'm doing I might have it ten years or I might get rid of it in one year (unlikely though). When I do replace it, it will likely be replace by the upcoming Taurus or Fusion. With the way the weather is around here RWD isn't an attractive idea and I don't need AWD.

My parents have never really had any interesting cars to speak of (318 Coronets from the early to mid 70s, 60s VW Beetle, etc.). I have never had the pleasure to drive a classic muscle car, but I have had a chance though to drive a few interesting ones that family and friends have owned.

99 Mercedes SL500: This car is fun for speed and cornering, but it is the most unlivable piece of garbage ever. No cushion in the seats and hard to see out of, no room at all, and believe it or not, less optional equipment than a Mustang. I don't know where German engineering got its reputation from because this car seemed to prove the opposite with all the problems it had.
04 Mustang Mach 1: Very nice car all around. Had power like the Mercedes, cornered quite well, had a well designed manual gear box, was roomy and comfortable.
04 SRT-4: If you like turbo compacts, it's nice, but not my taste. Quite powerful for its size and handles well, but too small, lacked cruise control (why wouldn't you want one), and just could have been better.
