Default PO401 - Backpressure Sensor

Looking thru the forum and various posts/replys. Awesome site guys. I have a 98 Taurus with a po401 code. I can see (buried in the rear) thesensor and hoses attached to it. Any easy ways to get to it / replace it. I have little hands but don't think that will help much, any tricks from all the wisdom I see out here? Thank you. Paul

I think this one is mounted on the firewall (not that it will stoop a fire). It sets in a metal bracket with the hose coming out of the bottom. A screwdriver will do the trick, just pry the hose off the bottom, then use the screwdriver the pry the sides and work the sensor up. Easy to do.

Thank you for the response. It was not mounted on the firewall nor where it is shown in my Haynes 1996-1998. It was located (standing in front on vehicle) in the rear, right, buried/under the air intake apparatus about 8" in front of the firewall. It was a pain to get to, no sight, just feeling. Anyone doing this in the future I would suggest marking/removing hoses attached and plug first, saturate a cotton ball with WD40, and use one of thosebutton parts grabber to daub the mounting studded threads first.
