After shutting off engine, knocks a couple of times and exhales thru my new carb. Had pull choke bought new card with automatic choke have had problem since new carb. I have a 1970 F250 300 4 spd.

Auto choke is now hooked up? Also, if the idle or choke/fast idle cam is set up too high raising the RPM enough it can 'run on' like that. Step motor nose can hold the throttle open too. Actually most any carb vehicle if you hold the throttle open a small amount and shut it off they tend to diesel/detonate

Octane level of the fuel will contribute too.. How's it run and idle with the new carb?
