The sound of air going through my engine
I recently changed my power steering pump on my 2008 f 150. After putting the hoses, fan, radiator hose and belt on i started the engine but i had to shut it off after seeing the smoke coming from my belt area. I later learned I completely missed the alternator but the way I had it made it tight like it normally is making me think I had it right, but it wasn't. After fixing this problem I developed a new problem that I can't figure out why it's happening. It sounds like there is a huge air hole roaring through my engine. On top of that I don't think it's got the correct power it normally did. If somebody can tell me what this might be and hopefully it's something I can fix or did I screw something up majorly by putting that belt on wrong. I put a code reader on but it show a caution symbol but no actual codes.
How about we start with what engine is in your vehicle.
Then,,,,,,what components the belt moves,, normally. Water pump, A/C, If air conditioning was not requested , should be no problem from that. If only the power steering pump is left then it may have pulled some air into the system which should go away more each time the engine is started and steering is turned to extreme left and extreme right,,,without holding it in any extreme position.
I'm not that sure anything electrical is involved.

The engine is V8 4.6L. Whatever the problem is it shuts off n on. At first it seemed to only be with the AC on but the other day it was turning on n off while i was trying to bleed the radiator. After doing that it seems to be on all the time. The more gas you give it the louder it is regardless of if the truck is parked or moving.
