Default Trans(?) knock sound

08 Ford CV P71 110k miles, no shifting issues, engine sounds great when in P and when driving.

Issue: When coming to stop or making a slow turn I can hear a steady knock sound coming from under car around engine/trans area (sounds like a ball bearing rattling steadily in a tin can) but I cannot pin the source down . It's not real loud but it's noticeable (and irritating). Sound stops when placed in N or in P.
More: When going from P to R I can hear it just a little then goes away; Also hear something like a bunch of little clicks (also goes away) when shifting from P to R or to D (D also bring out the steady knock especially once the car is warmed up). At first I thought U-Joints but now with the knock sound I'm not sure anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'd be thinking torque converter/ flex plate but should be more of a constant. Any chance you could have if lifted, and a stethoscope handy, rod, tube to help pin point its origin?
