Found this forum, and a few other sites in my efforts to keep my '99 Mercury Mountaineer on the road. Experiencing a "Large Evap Leak" which is keeping my truck from passing inspection. I purchased a new gas cap to replace the rag, but that didn't turn off the check engine light. Un-hooked the positive on the battery, that turned off the light for three days, but it came back on, and did not clear the error code.

On another note...came across this site that has old Ford Manuals digitized, you can order them for re-print. Pretty cool idea
