Default weird deformity in brand new 2015 explorer windshield

Can anyone tell me what this is? There are two on the lower part of the windshield. It doesn't look like a crack. Is it going to get worse? Both are about the size of a dime.

Welcome to the site..

Owned it since new?

Looks to be a moisture intrusion between the laminated glass. Windshields are safety glass with two layers, inner/outer, bonded to a safety sheet membrane or center core to keep it from shattering into pieces when broken. It almost looks like it was crack drilled/stopped but don't see any evidence of a crack but does look like a small impact or drill 'dot' in the center of the marking. Could be a small rock chip that pierced the outer glass and has now let moisture between the layers. Either way, if the outer glass has been punchered chances are it will spread over time. Usually lamination issues don't spread quickly, and is a odd looking foot print. You could have them filled with acrylic and it may hide some of the visual, but when foggy, usually not much correction affect like a fresh crack our bulls eye etc..sometimes in very cold regions, water will enter, then freeze and expand allowing for a quicker failure..

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I bought it yesterday brand spanking new with 28 miles on it. I think its a deformity from manufacturing. They are evenly spaced out about 4 inches from the botom of the windshield, about a foot apart. Overall I'm very unimpressed with the quality of the 2015 explorer. I bought it for my wife because she "had to have it"... Happy wife , happy life.

The first explorer I was about to buy had to be replaced because of obvious defects with the paint job on top of the roof. After further inspection when I got home I saw several other little issues of quality control that I have never seen in any other new cars that I have bought.

It certainly doesn't 'pattern out' like a chip failure!
Your taking it in for a replacement shield? For what new cars command as far as investment, they should do everything possible and reasonable to satisfied you. A lot of new purchases will be followed up with a customer satisfaction survey, dealers don't want a bad standing with Ford..
