Default work in progress

So I drive a 78' f-100 with a 302. It has 160k miles give or take. I put a new 650 4 brl. carb and a rpm performer intake with new headers and exhaust. Sound really good. The engine has wear, it will burn through 1 quart of oil a week. It can really use new heads, you can hear lifter clatter from time to time. Eventually i want to put a crate 302 in it but i want to get the most of the stock block for now, and keep it running good. The other night i was on my way home, i was driving on the freeway about 1 in the morning and was cruising along about 70 mph. Of course a little ricer car pulls up to me and wants to race, long story short im running about 90 mph and my engine starts to cut out on me. ?? Im not really sure why. Could it be my ignition? If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
