The first engine was put in at 5000 miles. The second engine was put in at 38,000 miles. There is always a knocking noise and metal in the oil. The check engine light comes on at high rpm's when I am passing somebody. I am not sure what to do if I should keep it or get rid of it. Any suggestions?

 

Have you thought it might not be the engine? Is someone tampering with it? Is it your driving style? workload? etc.

 

I don't know who would be able to tamper with it. I am not sure what type of driving style would create metal shavings inside the engine. The truck is only used for recreational does not do any heavy pulling. The guys at Ford could not figure it out either. They were also dumbfounded.
