Default Ford Escape 4WD In The Snow

Hello People!

First time poster in this forum. We are contemplating an Escape 4WD because our present vehicle does not do well on my steep driveway. In searching info on vehicels good for snow, I never see the Escape mentioned. Since everything else about the Escape fits our needs, I want to make sure it will handle the hills of Pittsburgh in the winter. Mind you, this will be an urban vehicle, not for off road / deep woods use.

Thanks!

Have you been able to consult with someone in your immediate area that drives in the same weather conditions?

No, unfortunately, I only know one former Escape owner. They had an early 2000 FWD model. They had no problems, but I don't know how well that older FWD model compares to a new 4WD version.

For the record, in addition to not having snow problems, they got well over 8 years before they sold it to a co-worker who needed a more reliable ride. I understand it is still going strong!
