Exclamation 89 bronco problems

I have a 1989 bronco 4.9/6cyl 4speed that is giving me problems! It dosen't want to idle and I also have alot of hesitation when I take off! There is alack of power as well!I just cleaned out the throttle body and I also took a look at the spark plugs and noticed that it looks like my engine is running hot!I can also smell it running hot!It sat all winter and I had the idling problem before I parked it but not the hesitation! It kind of seems like something is clogged like maybe the cat or maybe I need to put in new intake manifold gaskets!I was also wondering if the timing is off!I guess I am looking for some other option on why she might be running so rough!how do I check the timing and fix it!
