Default VPN on Smartphones

I’ve been using a VPN on my laptop for a while, mostly when working from cafés or while traveling, and it seems pretty straightforward there. But recently I started wondering if it works the same way on smartphones. I use my phone even more than my computer, especially on public networks, and I’m not sure if the level of protection is the same. Does it actually cover all apps and traffic on a phone, or are there limitations compared to desktop use?

From my experience, using a VPN on a smartphone is pretty similar to using it on a computer, especially if you install a dedicated app. Once it’s turned on, most of your traffic goes through the encrypted connection, including apps, not just browsers. I started paying attention to this when I realized how often I rely on my phone while traveling. I read a bit more about how these connections work on https://toggle.org/ , and it helped me understand that the main idea is the same across devices — your data gets routed through another server. As long as it’s set up properly, it can be just as effective on mobile as on desktop.

From banking to work communication, a lot of sensitive activity happens on mobile devices now. Because of that, it makes sense that people are paying more attention to how their phones handle connections and what tools they use to keep things a bit more secure when they’re on the go.
